must see mondays in november

it's joan fontaine mondays all november long on turner classic movies. yeehaw. loved her and everything about rebecca (check out this link that has all sorts of groovy vintage movie posters!). her performance as the insecure but devoted second wife of maxim de winter is one of my all time favorites. so much so that right after i saw rebecca i bought her autobiography from a (now-defunct) store on greenwich street that sold classic hollywood photos, scripts, and books (i miss that store...). it wasn't the most enthralling read, but my appreciation for her work (and her loveliness, of course) was not at all diminished by it.

and you should see the women, less for fontaine's performance and more for the elegant norma shearer, the bratty joan crawford and the sassy rosalind russell, to name only a few. and the quips, barbs and great one liners are apt to make a wiseacre out of you.
